First sign of improvement is reduced amount of leakage. When improvement is seen decrease frequency of dosing to twice daily, then once daily Spinal column and spinal cord injury or disease– Problems of the spine, including arthritis, deficient alignment of the vertebrae or other disc issues can cause neurological problems which interfere with the proper functions of the urinary tract and the intestines. Canine urinary incontinence is when a house-trained or litter-box trained dog loses control of his or her bladder and so ‘leaks’. This is extremely unpleasant for both you and your dog and it can affect animals of any gender, age or breed. There are a number of common causes of canine incontinence and fortunately importantly for your sanity and the cleanliness of your house, there are treatment options. Tom Farrington MRCVS., MVB., VetMFHom, gives an overview of the possible causes of incontinence in dogs and your treatment options. Hormone imbalance– In middle-aged to older spayed females, a hormonal imbalance can cause incontinence. One out of 5 spayed female dogs can be affected by incontinence, which usually develops about 3 years after the surgery. It is seen less frequently, but is also possible, in young females and older neutered males where hormonal incontinence is caused by a deficiency of estrogen (in females) or testosterone (in males). Both of these hormones are important in maintaining muscle tone of the urethral sphincter.

The ingredients in Feline UTI+ have drug monographs covering burning straining, difficult or inappropriate urination; urine with a range of abnormalities from having blood through mucous and pus to odor and color changes, either with or without the presence of crystals gravel or stones. Chronic and acute complaints such as cystitis and nephritis may also obtain relief from the addition of Homeopet Feline UTI+ which can be used in combination with conventional medications or in less severe self-limiting cases (those which would recover naturally) on its own, helping reduce chemical toxicity and the systemic disturbance caused by medications. Feline UTI+ is easily administered and should be dropped directly on to the mucous membrane of the mouth, including the lips, by raising the head until the mouth opens. Where an animal finds this distressful or you are unable to comply, the medication can be put in the food, water, or as a last resort well-diluted milk as in some cases milk can aggravate bladder conditions. Optimally, the liquid preparation should be dropped directly into the mucous membrane of the mouth including lips; ideally in dogs by pulling out the labial pouch, and in cats by raising the head until the mouth opens. Where an animal finds this distressful, or an owner is unable to comply, the medication can be put in the food, water or milk. Where animals are sensitive to the odor of the alcohol preservative, a 10-20 minute period should be allowed for dilution and evaporation before the liquid or food is presented to the patient. Occasionally, animals will shake their heads as a response to the alcohol preservative; cats may salivate excessively and in these cases, presenting it in food, water or milk works.ADMINISTRATION: Optimally, the liquid preparation should be dropped directly into the mucous membrane of the mouth including lips; ideally in dogs by pulling out the labial pouch, and in cats by raising the head until the mouth opens. Although a long history of homeopathics used in humans shows a very high safety margin. INDICATIONS: A homeopathic remedy that may help promote temporary relief from urinary incontinence or leaking that can occur in older pets, spayed females and neutered males. A maintenance dose may be needed long-term to aid with incontinence. It is recommended to stop remedy for 48 hours every 3 months, then resume dosing at required level. Safe Ingredients. Our safe, gentle Leaks No More medication is made from natural ingredients that may help promote temporary relief from urinary incontinence and may help symptoms such as leaking while sleeping, constant dribbling, stains on the carpet, or puddles on the floor. Infections– Urinary tract infections (UTI’s) will make your dog feel an increasing need to eliminate urine more frequently than usual. Apart from this, the whole urination process can become very difficult and uncomfortable for him or her, which can cause anxiety and stress which further amplifies the problem. Bladder infections can also be included in this category where a prolonged bladder infection can actually scar the bladder and deter it from holding urine normally. There are several possible common causes of urinary incontinence in dogs, the six most common of which include:SMALL MAMMALS such as rabbits, ferrets, hamsters and pot bellied pigs can be dosed by weight as for cats and dogs in previous section. For severe cases a drop can be diluted in 1 ml of water or other oral rehydration fluid and given to the patient orally, taking care to avoid aspiration of the fluid into the respiratory tract by the patient. 3 doses whose volume is appropriate to the size of the patient should be given from the diluted product over a 24 hour period, e.g. 2 drops for a mouse or small budgie, 4 drops for a large guinea pig. For acute cases it can be repeated as for cats and dogs in previous dosing section.
